Eva Ruiz Navés is the Founder and Director of Mi Casita with a lifelong love for the Art of Education. She has worked as a teacher, researcher, and policy advisor. Eva has been a teacher nationally in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and New York and internationally in Dakar and Barcelona. Her career lead her to be a researcher at NYU’s Metropolitan Center For Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. Later she became Education Policy Analyst and Budget Manager for City Council member Letitia James. Her last job before starting Mi Casita in 2010 was as Political and Community Affairs Director at the NYC Department of Education. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of San Francisco and her Master's degree in Sociology of Education from The Steinhardt School at New York University. Eva proudly serves on the Board of Parents Together.

As the daughter of immigrants from Barcelona, Eva grew up bilingual and bi-cultural, with one foot in Spain and one foot in California. She has carried on this tradition with her daughter, Ona, with whom she loves to explore the world, discovering new places both locally and internationally.
